HAMWORTHY UNITED NEEDS YOUR HELP
Programme Editor
We are looking for somebody to edit and
compile the Match Day Programme. The use of
a computer and access to the internet is
essential. A printer can be supplied and all
out of pocket expenses paid. Help will be
given with match reports etc.
Commercial Manager
Responsibilities will include obtaining
advertisements for the programme and
pitcbside boards for Hamworthy United
Football Club, as well as fund raising for
the Club. Payment will be by commission only
at a rate to be discussed prior to
appointment.
Linesman For Reserve Side
We require a person to run the line for the
Reserves for both home and away games. Many
games in the Dorset Premiership now have to
run with only one Referee’s Assistant, or
none at all on the line. The onus is now on
every club to supply a linesman for these
games, failure to do so will lead to a fine
for the Club.
General Help on Match Days
There are any amount of jobs that require
doing on match days and we require
volunteers to help with the many jobs. We
require help with such things as stewarding,
car parking, taking the nets down, and
helping with the teas etc.,
If
you can help us with any of these jobs
please make yourself known to a Committee
Member or contact the Secretary Peter
Gallop on 01202 670792 or 07931 210019. His

YOUTH
THE WAY
FORWARD FOR HAMWORTHY UNITEDF.C
This
season Hamworthy United has run two very successful
Under Eighteen sides. Both Teams have done very well
in their respective leagues. The South West Youth
League Team has competed on Saturday mornings
against mainly Academy sides. They have played among
others teams from Bristol, Eastleigh and Newport
County. The Young Hammers are at present top of the
Second Division in their first season of entering
the league, and at the time of writing could
possibly still win it. They are guaranteed to finish
in at least second place, and will be promoted to
Division One next season The Dorset Youth League
Division One Team play on Sunday afternoons, and
they too are assured of finishing in at least second
place. They have also qualified for the final of the
Dorset Youth Cup which they won last year. Two of
this year’s Youth Team Matt Grimason, and Joe Byrne
are already established First Team players with Josh
Reavenall –Nuete now also having made several
impressive appearances for the Sydenhams Wessex
side. Several other have been included in the squad
and have made the occasional appearance. Last years
Under Eighteen Captain Greg Horlock is another ever
present in the first Team Squad.
Many of
the boys will be too old next season for the Youth
teams, but the intention is to keep as many of them
as possible. They will be brought on through the
Reserve and First teams in order to build for the
future. Negotiations are at present going on to
ensure that the quality of player needed for the
Youth Squad will be maintained. It is also Hamworthy
United’s intention to run a third Under Eighteen
team for sixteen year olds in the Second Division of
the Sunday League. This will enable players to make
a steady progression right up to the First Team.
Everybody
at Hamworthy United Football Club including Manager
Phil Simkin and his staff see the development of the
Youth Section as the best way forward. This will
give the Hammers a much better chance to compete
with our more affluent neighbours in the future, and
should provide the necessary talent required. Gary
Watson has been appointed Youth Development Manager
and he will liaise with the Phil Simkin, and the
Coaches from each team including the Reserves, to
check and report on each player’s progress. The Club
will be also looking for people to help coach these
young players; preferably they will be already
qualified.
If you
think you would like to be a part of these exciting
times, either as a player, as a coach or just a
helper please contact Phil Simkins, Gary Watson, or
Secretary Peter Gallop at Hamworthy United Football
Club. |

GROUND IMPROVEMENTS
Hamworthy United Football Club
has come a long way in the past
six years or so, and the next
twelve months could be crucial
if we are to continue the
progress already made. We hope
to undertake three major
projects in the very near future
all of which will need a great
deal of planning, and assistance
if we are to achieve our aims.
Firstly we have to build a
covered accommodation for fifty
people to meet the minimum
requirements to enter the FA
Cup, FA Vase, and the Sydenhams
Wessex League Premier Division
next season. This has to be done
by the 31st March
2008.
We also have to build the new
Irvin Brown Stand hopefully by
the start of next season. Lastly
we have now had a loan agreed by
the Brewery, and hope to make a
start on the Bar Extension in
the near future. This we hope
would generate extra income for
the Club.
As previously stated a great
deal of help will be needed in
so many ways if we are to
achieve our goals. If you are in
a position to help in any way be
it with your particular skills,
with materials, or with your
labour we would be very grateful
to hear from you. Please contact
Peter Gallop the Secretary on
07846-974263, or any member of
the Committee.

A
brief history of our club...
Hamworthy United F.C. are a football club
based in Hamworthy, a suburb of Poole, England.
We were formed as a merger between Hamworthy F.C.
and Trinidad Old Boys F.C. in 1970. In the
2003-04 season, we reached the 2nd round of the
FA Vase. We are currently members of the Wessex
League Premier Division.
Our
team was formed in the 1890’s called Hamworthy
St Michael’s, winning our first trophy the
Whitehead Minor Cup in the 1899-1900 Season.
Hamworthy Football Club was formed in 1926,
and moved to the present ground The County
Ground (formally known as the Nursery) in 1950.
Hamworthy Football Club amalgamated with
Trinidad Old Boys at the start of the 1971-72
season to form
Hamworthy United Football Club as we are
known today.
Hamworthy United have had great success at
all levels over the years in various
competitions. After winning the league two years
running we were promoted in the 2004-2005 Season
to Wessex League Division 1, winning the Wessex
League Cup in our first season. We reached the
2nd round of the FA Vase.
The
Club did not take part in the 1969/70 Season due
to administration difficulties and the
amalgamation with Trinidad OB.
League status resumed for the 1970/71 Season
under the name of Hamworthy United Football Club
to date. We would like to thank Mr. Mervyn
Powell - a local Historian - for his assistance
in compilation of our listed Club History. A
Dorset Combination Jubilee publication is due
for release later this year.
As a follow up to our listed History, the Club
are pleased to make available a collection of
pictures that may bring our success into focus,
and add more interest to an already informative
website.
