COBHAM SPORTS 0 HAMWORTHY UNITED RES. 3

Dorset Premier League Saturday ( 01-12-07 )

The Reserves got back to winning ways with a fine away win at Cobham Sports that moves them up into seventh place in the league. Hamworthy welcomed back the experienced Alan Marsh fresh from America, where he has been working as a football coach.
This was a good all round team performance with everybody working hard for each other straight from the kick off. This proved to be more productive than Cobham’s prettier football with no end product. A flick header by Darrell Williams gave United the lead, but it took a great save by Gary Smart to hang on to it. Ex-Hammer Stuart Merrill hit a screamer of a shot that looked bound for the back of the net until the Hammers keeper not only saved it, but held on to it. The score remained 1-0 at the break.
Keith  Middleton made changes in the second half, and one of these Richie Norris added a second goal for the Hammers. This followed a good run down the left by Darren Orchard who threaded the ball through for Richie to run on to and score. Hamworthy’s third goal started with quick one two between Darren Orchard, and James Johnson whose cross found David Frake to head home, and complete the scoring. One reason that the Reserves came away with this emphatic win was the display of central midfielder Mike Winn whose marking job on the opposing danger man meant he was kept very quiet the whole game.
