TEAM BATH 0 HAMWORTHY UNITED 4
South West Counties Youth League (Saturday 18-10-08)
The Hammers were playing an inform Team Bath and got off to a great start when a poor keeper’s clearance fell to Rich Norris, who from 35 yards returned the ball into an empty net to make it 1-0. Fifteen minutes later Team Bath applied some pressure down the left side, and delivered a dangerous cross. Sam Phillips was first to it, but was poorly adjudged to have handled the ball in the area, so giving Team Bath a penalty. The taker stepped up, but found himself against an in-form Tom Brown, who stood his ground and made a great save. The ball rebounded back to the taker, who then saw his second attempt hit the post. This time it fell to their left midfielder who drilled the ball against the bar. It finally fell to Jack Smith who made no mistake with a great clearance. In the following twenty minutes the Hammers took control of the game with some great passing and movement in midfield, to which Team Bath had no answer. The ball was played to Ross Hampton-Brown, and his quick feet touched the ball past the defender who could only bring him down in the area to give us a penalty. Rich Norris wasted no time in putting the ball down on the spot before sending the keeper the wrong way to give us a 2 - 0 lead. Minutes later a quick ball played by Rich Norris found Lewis Williams in space. His run took him past his marker before he neatly slid the ball under the oncoming keeper to make it 3 – 0 for United going into the break.
The second half was pretty much the same as the first with the Hammers having the better of things. Team Bath had a hand full of chances, but they could not find a way past Tom Brown and his solid defence. Hamworthy took control, and got their fourth goal when a Team Bath defender handled the ball to give us our second penalty of the game. Rich Norris again coolly slotted the ball home to give him his hat-trick and the Hammer’s fourth goal.
A great display by the lads who all gave 110%!
