OKEFORD UNITED 1 HAMWORTHY UNITED RES. 3

Dorset Senior Trophy (Saturday 11-10-08)
The Hammers came away with a well earned 3-1 win in this tricky first defence of the Trophy that they had won last season. Hamworthy welcomed Wayne Robbins and Greg Horlock back into the team after their first team exploits of late.
It took Hamworthy a while to get into their stride kicking up a difficult slope in the first half. Oakford took a deserved lead before an own goal got the Reserves back into the game. A Darren Orchard corner was headed past his own Keeper by an Oakford defender to make it 1-1 at half time.
The Hammers found the going easier in the second period kicking down the slope.
Man of the Match Darren Orchard was felled in the box and the Referee awarded a penalty that Gary Williams dispatched for his second goal in two weeks following his return. The lead was increased when Darren Orchard converted from the edge of the box after a good passing move made the opening. Hamworthy were unable to score any more before the conclusion of the game, and so settled in the end for a comfortable win.
