HAMWORTHY UNITED RESERVES 2 PARLEY SPORTS 0
Magna Dorset Premier League (Saturday 30-10-10)
The Reserves needed to get back to winning ways following a run of defeats, and did so with a good all round team performance. Rod Stacey brought in a few recent signings which included new Keeper Scott Wilson, and striker Jack Foster who went on to score the second goal.
Hamworthy started the game very brightly with some good passing football. They had Parley on the back foot right from the first whistle. United’s quick forwards had the legs on the Parley defence and this caused them problems. The Hammers took the lead after five minutes when the Sports Keeper could only palm away a shot, but the ball dropped to Scott Parker. He had time to pick his spot, and score from close range. After another well worked movement United had the ball in the back of the net again, only to see it ruled out for offside by the Referees Assistant. They did however double their lead after a quarter of an hour through Jack Foster who was proving to be quite a handful in his first game for the Hammers. Shortly afterwards he was put through one on one with the Keeper by Darren Orchard, but this time hit the ball over. As the half progressed Parley did raise their game, but most of their attempts at goal were from a distance and not well directed. New Keeper Scott Wilson dealt comfortably with most things, but did well to save one goal bound effort by the visitors’ not long before the interval.
HT 2-0
The second half was a much closer affair than the first, as one or two Hamworthy legs began to tire. The United defence were put under a little more pressure than the first half, but stood strong. Both young fullbacks Stain Pederton and Sam Moore were giving a good account of themselves, and were ably supported by the more experienced Mike Glavin and Dale Hyne. Rod Stacey brought on fresh legs and Hamworthy began once again to create chances especially when Aaron Stacey returned following an injury picked up on first team duties. He and Charlie Mayer both went close to increasing the lead, but United were not to score again before the final whistle.
